Movement For Every Body [VIDEO]

We know that it is common for people to often sit for more than eight hours a day. So don’t let that time go to waste!

Whether you’re on the bus or train to work, or sitting at your desk or watching your favourite program on TV, you can make some creative use of your chair time and give yourself some muscle-toning benefits. Not only do these simple exercises help strengthen and tone muscles, but it’s a great way to take a break from work and fill in the boredom during the ads!

Sometimes you may feel like you have no time to do any such thing amid all the emails, conference calls and meetings, not to mention during your favourite program in the evening, and you’re not alone. We know that nearly half of us admit we don’t engage in the suggested 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise a week. Therefore half of us don’t get the physical exercise we need.

But these exercises we can do at our desks or in our armchairs to help improve our body’s flexibility and strength with nothing but a few minutes and the said chair :) No exercise or gym equipment is needed!

We advise you in the beginning to take it slowly and work up to a solid activity regime. Also remember to take the stairs (two at a time even!) not the lift and get up from your chair to go and talk with a co-worker instead of emailing them. Park in the furtherest park at the shopping centre or supermarket and walk or bike to work. 150 minutes a week can be broken up into numerous smaller sessions that can be dealt with more easily.
